Welcome to Lakebones, a screen printing adventure started by three friends named Jimmy, Dave, and Brian (Teddy). We all grew up together on Seneca Lake in the Finger Lakes region of Western New York. We silkscreen all of our products by hand, and we usually have fun doing it. We hope that you choose to also engage in fun while wearing your shirt and continue this fine tradition.

The Lakebones Story

Lakebones Story

The idea for Lakebones started over 5 years ago with a simple sketch of the Finger Lakes that was basically hand drawn on a napkin. We thought that simple, plain image would look great on a t-shirt. From there, our ideas ran wild and Lakebones was formed.

The three of us who formed Lakebones are from Geneva, NY, but have collectively lived all over the USA - Boston, Philadelphia, San Francisco, NYC and all over western New York. Although, we never lost our connection with the Finger Lakes.

Being away, we realized how unique the Finger Lakes area is. Not only the scenery, but the layout of the geography itself. At this point, doodles and sketches of the eleven lakes put our unformed ideas in motion.

Originally, we just wanted shirts of the Finger Lakes for ourselves. We took separate screen and printmaking classes, making just a handful of shirts. Since we weren't living in the area, no one recognized the design or what it was suppose to be.

It wasn't until we traveled home, that we were sitting on a good idea. At the time, there were no plain Finger Lakes shirts and we got a lot of inquiries where ours came from. This led to us making a few more FLX t-shirts for friends.

Soon after we started making the FLX t-shirts, the image evolved. We added a fish head and tail to the lakes - creating the 'fishbone' look and receiving some great feedback. We knew we to form a company and we had the name Lakebones in mind since the start, but we foolishly took a few months to name the company.
